Common Activation Tasks #
Frequent activation management scenarios.
Task 1: Customer Can’t Activate #
Scenario: “I’m getting ‘activation limit reached’ error”
Steps:
- Go to DDLS > Licenses
- Find their license
- Check activation count (e.g., 5/5)
- Go to Activations, filter by this license
- Review active sites
Solutions:
| Finding | Action |

| Stale activations | Deactivate old sites |
| All sites legitimate | Offer upgrade to higher limit |
| Customer migrated | Deactivate old domain |
Task 2: Finding All Activations for Customer #
Scenario: Customer asks “What sites am I using?”
Steps:
- Go to DDLS > Activations
- Filter by customer (search or dropdown)
- See all their activated sites
Share list with customer if needed.
Task 3: Checking Version on Customer’s Site #
Scenario: Customer reports bug, need to know their version.
Steps:
- Go to DDLS > Activations
- Find their site
- Check “Version” column
- If old version: Ask them to update
Task 4: Monthly Stale Cleanup #
Scenario: Regular maintenance to keep data clean.
Steps:
- Go to DDLS > Activations
- Click “Stale” tab
- Filter: 90+ days
- Review list
- Bulk deactivate obvious ones (staging, dev, localhost)
- Email customers about remaining
Goal: Keep stale rate under 10%.
Task 5: Investigating Suspicious Activity #
Scenario: License with many more activations than expected.
Steps:
- Find license in Licenses screen
- Note activation limit (e.g., 5)
- Check actual activations (filter by license)
- If over limit: Bug or abuse?
- Review site URLs for patterns
Actions:
- If bug: Fix and document
- If abuse: Contact customer, suspend if needed
