Creating a Customer Manually #
Most customers are created automatically when they purchase. But sometimes you need to create one manually.
When to Create Manual Customers #
Common Scenarios:
- Adding a beta tester who hasn’t purchased
- Creating record for phone/offline order
- Setting up partner or affiliate accounts
- Preparing customer before creating gift license
- Adding customer for manual invoice
Step-by-Step Guide #
Step 1: Open the Form #
Go to DDLS > Customers, click [Add New] button at the top.
Step 2: Enter Email (Required) #
Type customer’s email address.
System checks:
- Valid email format
- Not already in system (no duplicates)
Step 3: Enter Name (Recommended) #
Fill in First Name and Last Name fields.
Why enter name:
- Personalizes email communications
- Easier to identify in customer list
- Professional appearance in portal
Step 4: Enter Company (Optional) #
If business customer, enter company name.
Step 5: Link WordPress User (Optional) #
If customer needs portal access:
- Click “Link WordPress User” dropdown
- Search for existing WordPress user
- Select user account
If user doesn’t exist:
- Leave blank for now
- Customer can register when they first try to log in
- OR create WordPress user first, then link
Step 6: Save #
Click [Add Customer] button.
Success Message: “Customer created successfully!”
What Happens Next #
After creating customer:
- Customer appears in list
- No licenses yet (add separately)
- No WordPress user yet (unless linked)
- Ready for license creation or import
Creating Customer + License Together #
If you need customer AND license:
- Use Import Customer feature instead
- Creates both in one step
- Better for migrations
