Understanding Customers #

A customer is a person or company who owns licenses. DMSI DDLS creates a customer record for each person who purchases from you.

What is a Customer? #

Each customer has:

• Email Address: Primary identifier (unique)
• Name: First and last name
• Company: Optional company name
• WordPress User: Can be linked to a WP user account (optional)
• Total Licenses: Count of licenses owned
• Total Spent: Lifetime purchase value
• Status: Active, Suspended, or Cancelled

Example #

Sarah (sarah@example.com) purchases “Pro Plugin”. DMSI DDLS creates customer #123 linked to her WordPress user account.

The customer record tracks all her licenses, purchases, and download history. Later, if she purchases “Pro Theme”, it’s added to the same customer record.

Guest vs. Registered Customers #

Registered

Linked to WordPress user, can access customer portal.

Guest

Email-only record, no portal access (less common).

Customer Portal #

Registered customers can log in to their customer portal to:

• View all their licenses
• Download product files
• See activation usage
• Manage subscriptions
• Update payment methods
• View purchase history
