Understanding Subscriptions #
A subscription tracks recurring billing for a license. When a customer purchases a subscription product, DMSI DDLS creates a subscription record that tracks renewal dates and billing information.
What is a Subscription? #
Each subscription has:
- Status: Pending, Active, Trial, Past Due, Cancelled, Expired
- Billing Period: Day, Week, Month, or Year
- Billing Amount: Price charged per period
- Next Payment Date: When the next renewal is due
- Linked License: The license this subscription renews (1:1 relationship)
Example #
Mike purchases “Pro Plugin Annual Subscription” for $99/year. DMSI DDLS creates subscription #890 linked to his license.
When the renewal date approaches, DMSI DDLS detects the due subscription and notifies you (the admin). You can then process the renewal manually, or use an optional payment gateway extension for automatic processing.
