Cancelling a License (Permanent) #
Cancellation is a permanent action that cannot be undone. Use this only for final situations.
When to Cancel #
Valid Reasons:
- Chargeback resolved against you (permanent)
- Severe terms violation (piracy, abuse)
- Fraud confirmed (not suspected – confirmed)
- Customer requested refund + cancellation
- Account closure requested
IMPORTANT: This is Permanent #
There is NO way to reactivate a cancelled license.
The only option is creating a completely new license with a new license key.
Before You Cancel #
Ask yourself:
- Could this be resolved? (If yes, use Suspended instead)
- Is this temporary? (If yes, use Suspended instead)
- Is this 100% final? (If yes, proceed with Cancel)
Consider “Suspended” for:
- Payment issues (might be resolved)
- Chargebacks (might be won)
- Investigations (might be innocent)
- Temporary violations (might be corrected)
How to Cancel #
- Go to DDLS > Licenses
- Find the license
- Click [Edit]
- Change Status to “Cancelled”
- Read the warning carefully
- Confirm: “Yes, Permanently Cancel”
- Add internal note: “Cancelled – [reason] – [date]”
Cancellation Warning #
System shows strong warning:
Cancel License?
This is permanent and cannot be undone.– Customer loses all access immediately
– Activations stop working
– License key becomes unusable forever
– Consider “Suspended” instead for temporary holds[Back] [Yes, Permanently Cancel]
What Happens #
Immediately:
- All activations stop working (on next license check)
- Downloads disabled permanently
- Customer portal shows “Cancelled – Contact Support”
- Renewal button hidden/disabled
- License key becomes unusable
Forever:
- Cannot be reactivated
- Cannot be renewed
- Customer must purchase new license with new key
After Cancelling #
- Document reason in internal notes
- Email customer (if appropriate): “Your license has been cancelled due to [reason]. This action is permanent.”
- If fraud: Block customer email/IP from future purchases
