Deleting a License Type #

How to Delete #

  • Go to DDLS > Settings > License Types.
  • In the list table, find the License Type you want to remove.
  • Click Delete in the Actions column.
  • Confirm the deletion in the prompt.

    • Restrictions #

    System types cannot be deleted. Types with the Is System flag are built into DDLS and do not have a Delete action. They are shown with a lock indicator.

    Types linked to products cannot be deleted. If a WooCommerce product or variation is currently assigned to a License Type, you must unlink it first. Go to each product’s Licensing tab, change the License Type to a different one, and save. Then return to delete the now-unlinked type.

    Effect on Existing Licenses #

    Deleting a License Type does not affect licenses that were created when that type was assigned. Those license records retain the settings they were created with. The deleted type’s name may appear as a historical reference in license records.

    Best Practice #

    Rather than deleting and recreating types, create a new type with the updated settings. This preserves the audit trail. Retire old types by changing their Sort Order so they appear at the bottom of dropdowns, and remove them from any products.
