Common Product Configuration Tasks #
Frequent tasks and how to accomplish them.
Task 1: Changing Activation Limit for New Customers #
Scenario: Increasing activation limit from 5 to 10 for all new purchases.
Solution:
Result: New purchases get 10 activations. Existing licenses unchanged.
Note: If your selected License Type already has a default of 10, you can also update the type under Settings > License Types instead of overriding on every product individually.
Task 2: Adding a Free Trial to Existing Product #
Scenario: Adding 14-day free trial to subscription product.
Solution:
Result: New customers get 14-day trial before first payment.
Task 3: Changing from Annual to Lifetime License #
Scenario: Converting product from annual subscription to lifetime license.
Solution:
Result: New purchases get lifetime license with renewable support.
Task 4: Switching License Type for a Product #
Scenario: Moving a product from your basic type to a premium type with higher defaults. (New in v1.2.0)
Solution:
Result: New purchases use the new type’s defaults (subject to any product-level overrides).
Task 5: Creating a “Support Only” Renewal Product #
Scenario: Customer has lifetime license but needs to renew support.
Solution:
– Enable licensing: NO (or create minimal license)
– Support Duration: 12 months
– Support Level: Match original product
Alternative: Use the built-in support renewal system in DMSI DDLS.
Task 6: Disabling New Sales While Keeping Product Active #
Scenario: Product discontinued but existing customers need support.
Solution:
Result: Product not visible in shop, but existing licenses and support remain active.
