Creating a Product with Licensing #
To create a new product that uses licensing, you work in WooCommerce with DMSI DDLS’s licensing fields added.
Step-by-Step Guide #
Step 1: Go to WooCommerce Products #
- WooCommerce > Products > Add New
- OR from DDLS > Products, click [Add New Product] (redirects to WooCommerce)
Step 2: Enter Basic Product Info #
Fill in standard WooCommerce fields:
- Product Name – e.g., “Pro Plugin”
- Description – Full product description (shows on product page)
- Short Description – Brief summary (shows in product listing)
- Product Image – Main product image
- Product Gallery – Additional images
Step 3: Set Product Data Type #
In the “Product data” dropdown at the top:
- Select “Simple product” for single-tier products
- Select “Variable product” for multiple pricing tiers (Personal/Business/Agency)
Step 4: Set Product Price #
In the “Product Data” metabox:
- Check “Virtual” checkbox (no physical shipping)
- Check “Downloadable” checkbox (optional – for file downloads)
- Click the “General” tab
- Enter Regular Price – e.g., $99.00
- Optionally enter Sale Price for discounts
Step 5: Configure Licensing Settings #
Click the “Licensing” tab in the Product Data metabox (added by DMSI DDLS).

Step 6: Publish #
Click [Publish] to make the product live.
After Publishing #
- Product appears in DDLS > Products list
- Next purchase creates license with these settings
- Test by making a test order
