The Licensing Tab #
The Licensing tab in the WooCommerce Product Data metabox is where you configure DDLS features for a product. As of v2.1.0, the tab provides four independent feature toggles — each can be enabled or disabled on its own, in any combination.
Getting There #
- Go to WooCommerce > Products
- Edit a product
- Click the Licensing tab in the Product Data section
The Four Independent Toggles (v2.1.0) #
Each toggle is independent — enabling one does not require any other to be enabled. A product can use any combination of these features:
| Toggle | What it enables | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Licensing | License key generation at purchase. Reveals the License Settings section. | Software products that require activation |
| Enable Support Contract | A support contract is issued with every purchase. Reveals the Support Contract section. | Products bundled with support, or standalone support-only products |
| Enable Subscriptions | Recurring billing for this product. Reveals the Subscription Settings section. | Annual or monthly recurring products |
| Enable EULA | Requires customers to accept a EULA at checkout. Reveals the EULA Assignment section. | Any product requiring terms acceptance |
Example Combinations #
- Software only: Enable Licensing (no support, no subscription)
- Software + support: Enable Licensing + Enable Support Contract
- Support-only product: Enable Support Contract only (no license key is issued)
- Subscription software: Enable Licensing + Enable Subscriptions
- Full-featured product: All four toggles enabled
Settings Sections #
Enabling a toggle reveals its corresponding settings section below:
| Section | Purpose |
|---|---|
| License Settings | Key format, activation limit, duration, type, entitled version |
| Subscription Settings | Recurring billing period and interval |
| Support Contract | Bundled support contract settings |
| EULA Assignment | Assign an EULA document to this product (added v2.0.0) |
Important concept: Settings configured here are product-level defaults. For variable products, each variation can independently enable or disable any of the four toggles and override the corresponding settings. See the Variable Products documentation for how setting inheritance works.
