Admin-Configurable Platforms #
Version note: Admin-configurable platforms were introduced in v2.0.0. Previously, platform options were hardcoded.
What Changed #
In versions before v2.0.0, the platform dropdown when attaching files to versions had fixed options: Windows, Mac, Linux, and All Platforms. These could not be changed.
Starting in v2.0.0, platform values are fully configurable by the store administrator. You can add, edit, remove, and reorder platform options to match your product lineup.
Managing Platforms #
Go to DDLS > Settings > Platforms to manage platform values.
Adding a Platform #
Click [Add Platform] and enter a Label (display name) and Slug (internal key). The slug is auto-suggested from the label.
Editing a Platform #
Click the edit icon to change a platform’s label or slug.
Caution: Changing a slug does not update existing file records that use it. Only change slugs before they have been assigned to files.
Deleting a Platform #
Click the delete icon to remove a platform. Files previously tagged with this platform lose their platform label display but are not deleted.
Reordering #
Drag and drop rows to change the order platforms appear in dropdowns.
Default Platforms #
On fresh installation, these defaults are created:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
- All Platforms
Modify or remove these to match your needs.
Why Use Platforms #
Platforms help customers identify the correct download for their operating system or environment. In the Customer Portal, the platform label appears next to each downloadable file.
