What This Extension Adds #
Core DDLS does not introduce dedicated plugin configuration infrastructure beyond standard WordPress settings. DMSI Advanced API adds a structured configuration layer: settings are stored as WordPress options in wp_options, some are configurable through the admin UI (under the DDLS Developer admin shell), and an optional environment.php file at the plugin root can override options without touching the database. This makes it possible to maintain per-environment configuration in version-controlled files while keeping production credentials out of code.
How Configuration Works #
DMSI Advanced API stores its configuration in the standard WordPress wp_options table. Options are namespaced with the dmsi_aapi_ prefix to avoid collisions with other plugins.
Configuration can be set in three ways:
- Admin UI — available for most settings under the DDLS Developer admin shell.
update_option()— standard WordPress programmatic option updates.environment.php— an optional PHP override file placed at the plugin root. Settings defined here take precedence over the database. The file supports dot-notation key access and is useful for environment-specific overrides (local development, staging servers).
Environment Detection #
The plugin detects its current runtime environment from the dmsi_aapi_environment option. Valid values are:
| Value | Description |
|---|---|
production | Default. HTTPS is enforced. All security checks active. |
staging | Intermediate environment. Useful for QA and pre-release testing. |
development | HTTPS enforcement is relaxed. Intended for local development only. |
The current environment is reflected in the X-DMSI-Environment response header on all REST API responses.
