The Anomaly Status Workflow #
Each anomaly moves through a defined status workflow from detection to resolution.
Status Definitions #
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| New | Anomaly was just detected. Not yet reviewed. |
| Investigating | Someone is actively looking into the anomaly. |
| Resolved | Root cause identified and addressed. |
| Dismissed | Anomaly was a false positive or an acceptable variation. |
Progressing an Anomaly #
On the Anomaly Detection page, click any anomaly to open its detail view.
To mark as Investigating:
Click Start Investigation. This signals to your team that the anomaly is being actively reviewed.
To Resolve:
Click Resolve and optionally enter a resolution note (e.g., “Revenue drop caused by delayed payment batch processing, now caught up”).
To Dismiss:
Click Dismiss and optionally enter a reason (e.g., “Spike caused by planned promotional campaign, expected”).
False Positive Handling #
When you dismiss an anomaly as a false positive, DMSI Analytics adjusts the detection threshold for that specific metric. Repeated false positives for a metric result in a gradually raised sensitivity threshold, reducing future false alerts for that metric.
