Download Failure Monitoring #
Download failures occur when a customer attempts to download but the request is rejected or errors. Monitoring failures helps you identify and fix delivery problems quickly.
What Counts as a Failure #
DMSI Analytics tracks events where DDLS Core logs a download attempt that did not result in successful file delivery.
Common reasons for failures:
– License is inactive or expired
– Download limit exceeded (if you have per-license download limits)
– File no longer exists or was moved
– Customer’s access has been revoked
– Server error during file streaming
Failure Rate Metric #
The failure rate shown on the Download Analytics page is:
Failures / (Total Successful Downloads + Failures) x 100
Failure Trend Chart #
The Failure Trend chart shows download failure counts over time. Look for:
– Sudden spikes (often indicate a specific broken file or a batch of licenses with issues)
– Gradual increases (may indicate an accumulating licensing or delivery problem)
– High baseline rates (may indicate onboarding confusion or license distribution issues)
Investigating Failures #
DMSI Analytics shows aggregate failure data. To investigate individual failures:
- Note the approximate date and product from the Download Analytics failure chart
- Go to DDLS > Downloads (the DDLS Core download log)
- Filter by the date range and look for failed download entries
- Identify the customer and check their license status in DDLS > Licenses
