Quick Start: Understanding Your Data #
When you first activate DMSI Analytics, you may see empty charts. This is normal. Here is what to expect.
How Data Flows Into Analytics #
DMSI Analytics works by listening to DDLS Core events. It does not pull data from orders retroactively on first install.
Data collection begins the moment the plugin is activated.
Events tracked include:
– License created, activated, renewed, status changed, deleted
– Activations created, deactivated, checked in
– Downloads logged
– Customers created, updated, deleted, logged in
– Products created, updated
– Files created, updated, deleted
– Subscriptions created, renewed, cancelled, payment failed, status changed (requires Subscriptions Pro)
– Versions created, updated (requires Update Server)
When Metrics Calculate #
Raw events are stored immediately (they flush to the database at the end of each page request). However, pre-calculated metrics (MRR, ARR, churn rate, LTV, license utilization, etc.) are calculated once per day at 2:00 AM by a WP-Cron job.
This means:
– Events you see in the Real-Time dashboard are live
– Chart data on the Revenue, Customers, Downloads, and Licenses pages reflects yesterday’s calculation
– The first meaningful chart data appears the morning after installation
Triggering a Manual Calculation #
If you want data before the next scheduled cron:
- Go to DDLS > Analytics > Settings
- Scroll to Data & Maintenance
- Click Run Metric Calculation Now
This triggers the same calculation that runs nightly.
Historical Data #
Analytics does not import historical data from before installation. Your charts will show data from the installation date forward. Over time (weeks and months), the charts become more meaningful as data accumulates.
