License Settings #
The License tab is where administrators enter and manage the plugin’s license key. A valid license is required for the plugin to function beyond the grace period.
What DMSI Service Management Adds
This is the plugin’s own license validation system, separate from Core’s licensing (which manages customer-facing DDLS licenses). The license here covers the Service Management plugin itself.
Accessing License Settings #
Navigate to Services > Settings > License.
Entering a License Key #
- Obtain your license key from the DMSI client portal or your purchase confirmation email.
- Navigate to Services > Settings > License.
- Paste the license key into the License Key field.
- Click Save Changes (or Activate License if that button is present).
The plugin will attempt to validate the key against the DMSI license server. Validation requires an outbound HTTPS connection from your WordPress server.
License Status Indicators #
After entry, the License Status field displays one of four states:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| valid | License key is active and confirmed valid by the license server. |
| invalid | License key is not recognized, expired, or revoked. The plugin will not function in this state beyond the grace period. |
| grace_period | The license server could not be reached, but the plugin is within the 7-day grace period. All features remain active. |
| unreachable | The license server has been unreachable for more than 7 days. The plugin enters a restricted state. |
Grace Period #
When the DMSI license server is unreachable (network issue, server maintenance, firewall block), the plugin enters a grace period of 7 days. During the grace period:
- All plugin features remain fully functional.
- A notice is displayed in the admin area indicating the license server is unreachable.
- The grace period countdown is visible in the License Status display.
If the license server remains unreachable after 7 days, the plugin transitions to the unreachable state and non-essential features may be restricted until connectivity is restored.
Deactivating a License #
To deactivate the license (for example, to move the plugin to a new server):
- Navigate to Services > Settings > License.
- Click Deactivate License.
Deactivating releases the license seat on the DMSI license server, allowing it to be activated on a different domain.
