Common Error Messages #
This page explains the most commonly encountered error messages and admin notices in DMSI Service Management, and what action to take for each.
What DMSI Service Management Adds
All error messages described here originate from this extension. Error messages from Core, WooCommerce, or WordPress itself are outside the scope of this page.
License Error Messages #
“License key is invalid” #
Where it appears: Services > Settings > License, and as a persistent admin notice.
Meaning: The license key entered does not exist in the DMSI license database, has expired, or has been revoked.
Action: Verify the license key was entered correctly (check for extra spaces or missing characters). If the key is correct, contact DMSI to confirm the license status.
“License is in grace period (N days remaining)” #
Where it appears: Admin notice at the top of all admin pages.
Meaning: The DMSI license server could not be reached, but the plugin is within the 7-day grace period. All features remain active.
Action: This is typically caused by a temporary network issue or DMSI server maintenance. No action is required if it resolves within the grace period. If the notice persists for more than 24 hours, check that your server can make outbound HTTPS requests to the DMSI license server. Contact DMSI if the issue persists.
“License server unreachable — plugin features may be restricted” #
Where it appears: Admin notice at the top of all admin pages.
Meaning: The grace period has expired and the license server remains unreachable. The plugin has entered a restricted state.
Action: The most common cause is a firewall rule blocking outbound HTTPS from the WordPress server. Check your server’s outbound firewall rules. If WooCommerce and other external services are working normally (indicating outbound connections work), the DMSI license server domain may need to be added to an allowlist.
Plugin Dependency Notices #
“DMSI Service Management: DMSI-DDLS Core is required but not active” #
Where it appears: Admin notice after activating the plugin without Core active.
Meaning: Core was deactivated after Service Management was already active. Service Management detected the missing dependency on the next page load.
Action: Reactivate DMSI-DDLS Core. The notice will clear on the next page load once Core is confirmed active.
“DMSI Service Management: WooCommerce is required for background jobs” #
Where it appears: Admin notice when WooCommerce is inactive.
Meaning: WooCommerce has been deactivated. Background jobs (hour alerts, SLA compliance, email queue, etc.) are not running.
Action: Reactivate WooCommerce. Once WooCommerce is active, background jobs will resume automatically.
Portal Error Messages #
“Service portal rewrite rules may not be flushed” #
Where it appears: Admin notice after plugin activation.
Meaning: The plugin detected that its portal rewrite rules may not yet be registered with WordPress’s active rewrite configuration.
Action: Navigate to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes to flush rewrite rules. The notice will not reappear after the flush is complete.
