This document describes the pause and resume flow from the customer’s perspective on the WooCommerce My Account portal.
📌 What This Extension Adds: The pause UI elements — button, duration modal, and confirmation emails — are all injected by Subscriptions Pro into the standard WooCommerce My Account subscription view.
Finding the Pause Button #
Customers navigate to My Account → Subscriptions and click on an active subscription. In the subscription detail view, they see a Pause Subscription button alongside the standard Cancel button. The Pause button is only shown when:
- The subscription is in
activestatus - The customer has not exhausted their pause allowance for the year
- The pause feature is enabled in admin settings
Duration Selection Modal #
Clicking Pause Subscription opens a modal overlay with:
- A brief explanation of what pausing does
- A dropdown or button group with the configured duration options (default: 30 days, 60 days, 90 days)
- A Confirm Pause button and a Cancel link
Confirmation and Emails #
After confirming the pause:
- The modal closes and the subscription view refreshes showing the updated status badge (Paused).
- The pause end date is displayed: “Your subscription will automatically resume on [date].”
- A pause confirmation email is sent to the customer’s registered email address.
Resuming Early #
Customers may also choose to resume their subscription before the scheduled end date. A Resume Now button replaces the Pause button for paused subscriptions. Clicking it triggers an immediate resume and adjusts the next billing date accordingly.
Reaching the Pause Limit #
When a customer has used all allowed pauses for the year, the Pause Subscription button is replaced with an informational notice: “You have used all available pauses for this subscription year. Pauses reset on [date].”
