Three email templates handle trial lifecycle notifications. All templates are located in templates/emails/ and follow the standard WooCommerce template override pattern.
📌 What This Extension Adds: These three email templates are specific to Subscriptions Pro’s trial system. Core DDLS sends no trial lifecycle emails.
Trial Email Templates #
| Template File | Trigger | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
trial-started.php | Immediately on trial start | Welcomes the customer, confirms trial duration and end date |
trial-ending.php | 3 days before trial end (default) | Reminds customer the trial is ending; prompts payment method verification |
trial-converted.php | On successful trial-to-paid conversion | Confirms the subscription is now active and first payment processed |
Template Variables #
All trial email templates have access to:
| Variable | Description |
|---|---|
$customer_name | Customer’s full name |
$subscription_id | Subscription post ID |
$trial_start_date | Trial start date (formatted) |
$trial_end_date | Trial end date (formatted) |
$days_remaining | Days remaining in trial (available in trial-ending.php) |
$subscription_amount | Full subscription price after trial |
$payment_method_url | Link to update payment method |
Overriding Templates #
Copy any template file to your-theme/woocommerce/emails/ to customise it. The theme copy takes precedence over the plugin copy.
Trial Ending Notification Timing #
The trial-ending.php email is sent by a daily WordPress cron job that checks for trials expiring within the configured advance window. The default is 3 days before expiry. This timing can be adjusted at DMSI → Subscriptions Pro → Trials tab.
