Win-Back Campaigns automatically reach out to customers who have recently cancelled their subscription with a series of re-engagement emails, discount incentives, and easy reactivation links. The campaign runs on a drip schedule without any manual admin intervention after initial configuration.
📌 What This Extension Adds: Core DDLS records cancellations but takes no post-cancellation action. Subscriptions Pro adds a fully automated 3-email win-back sequence with configurable delays, WooCommerce coupon integration for discount codes, and reactivation tracking.
How Win-Back Campaigns Work #
- Cancellation triggers campaign — When a subscription is cancelled (whether by customer, admin, or auto-cancel), the win-back manager checks if the customer is eligible for a win-back campaign. Eligibility requires that the customer does not already have an active campaign running and has not opted out of win-back emails.
- Campaign record created — A record is inserted into
wp_dmsilm_sp_winback_campaignswith the customer ID, cancelled subscription ID, and campaign start date.
- Emails sent on schedule — Three emails are sent at configurable delays after cancellation (default: day 7, day 30, day 60). Each email is logged in
wp_dmsilm_sp_winback_log.
- Discount codes generated — Emails 1 and 3 include auto-generated WooCommerce coupon codes for discount incentives (default: 20% and 30% off respectively).
- Reactivation tracked — If a customer reactivates within the campaign window, the campaign record is marked as converted and the conversion is counted in analytics.
The 3-Email Sequence #
| Default Delay | Template | Discount | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email 1 — We miss you | 7 days after cancellation | winback.php | 20% off |
| Email 2 — Come back | 30 days after cancellation | winback-miss-you.php | None |
| Email 3 — Last chance | 60 days after cancellation | winback-last-chance.php | 30% off |
Opt-Out Mechanism #
Every win-back email includes an unsubscribe link. The opt-out URL format is:
“ https://yoursite.com/winback-unsubscribe/?token={token}
`
The {token} parameter is a secure, unique token generated per campaign record. Visiting this URL opts the customer out of all future win-back emails and marks the campaign as opted-out in wp_dmsilm_sp_winback_campaigns`.
