Quick Start Guide #
Get your first product delivering auto-updates in five steps.
Step 1: Create a Product in DDLS #
If you do not already have a product:
- Go to DDLS > Products > Add New
- Enter your product name and configure licensing
- Save
The Update Server works with any licensed product in DDLS.
Step 2: Publish a Version with a File #
- Go to DDLS > Versions > Add New
- Enter the version number (e.g., 1.0.0)
- Select your product
- Write a changelog
- In the Update Server Settings section (added by this extension):
- Leave Channel as stable
- Leave Rollout at 100%
- Upload your release ZIP using the file upload field
- Click Publish
Step 3: Download a Client SDK #
- Go to DDLS > Settings > Update Server tab
- Scroll to Client SDK
- Select your programming language
- Click Download SDK
- Add the SDK files to your software project
Step 4: Configure the SDK #
Edit the SDK files to set your site URL and product ID:
// WordPress plugin example
$updater = new DMSI_WP_Plugin_Updater([
'api_url' => 'https://your-store.com',
'product_id' => 42,
'plugin_file' => __FILE__,
'plugin_slug' => 'your-plugin/your-plugin.php',
'version' => '1.0.0',
'license_key' => get_option('your_plugin_license_key'),
]);
$updater->init();
The SDK Download tool replaces https://your-store.com with your actual site URL automatically.
Step 5: Test an Update Check #
With a customer license key and a product ID, make a test API call:
POST /wp-json/dmsilm/v1/updates/check
{
"license_key": "YOUR-LICENSE-KEY",
"product_id": 42,
"current_version": "0.9.0",
"channel": "stable"
}
You should receive a response showing update_available: true with a download URL.
