Create a custom role when the four built-in roles do not match your team’s job functions.
Admin-Side Feature
Limits #
You can have up to 50 custom roles in addition to the 4 built-in roles.
Steps #
- (‘ol’, ‘Go to DMSI DDLS > Team > Roles.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Add New Role.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Enter a Role Name (required). This is the display name your staff see. Example: “Billing Specialist”.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘The Slug is generated automatically from the name. It cannot be changed after saving.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘In the Permissions section, check each capability this role should have.’)
- Review the Permission Matrix for a description of each capability.
- Remember that delete implies manage, which implies view.
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Save Role.’)
Choosing the Right Permissions #
When deciding which permissions to grant:
- Grant the minimum permissions needed for the job function. This is called least-privilege access.
- Ask: “What does this person need to do?” then grant only those capabilities.
- You can always edit the role later to add or remove capabilities.
Role Name Rules #
- Must be unique (no two roles can share the same name)
- Cannot use the names of the 4 built-in roles (Admin, Manager, Support, View-Only)
- Maximum 100 characters
