You can change the name and permissions of any custom role at any time. Built-in roles cannot be edited.
Admin-Side Feature
Steps #
- (‘ol’, ‘Go to DMSI DDLS > Team > Roles.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Find the custom role in the list.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Edit.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Change the Role Name and/or Permissions as needed.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Save Role.’)
Effect on Existing Staff Members #
When you edit a role, the changes apply immediately to all staff members currently assigned that role. On their next request to the DDLS admin, they will have the updated permissions.
Example: If you remove dmsi_manage_licenses from the “Senior Support” role, all staff members with that role will lose license management access on their next page load.
What You Cannot Change #
- Slug – The role slug (used internally) is set at creation and cannot be changed.
- Built-in roles – Only custom roles can be edited. The four built-in roles (Admin, Manager, Support, View-Only) are read-only.
