Most project management tools fall into two camps. On one side, you have full-featured SaaS platforms that cost $10–$30 per seat per month, require an internet connection, and store everything in someone else’s cloud. On the other, you have spreadsheets and text files — free and local, but impossible to maintain once you have more than a handful of things going on.
Neither option is great if you want something powerful that runs on your machine, keeps your data local, and doesn’t charge you a recurring per-seat fee that scales with your team size.
That’s why we built DMSI Planner.
What DMSI Planner Is
DMSI Planner is a desktop project management application for Windows. It runs locally, stores everything in a fast SQLite database on your machine, and gives you the tools you need to plan, track, and ship your work — without a browser tab or a cloud dependency.
It’s built for people who manage real projects and want real control: solo founders, freelancers, consultants, and small teams who’d rather own their data than rent access to it.
The app is available now at dmsi.gr/product/dmsi-planner for $49/year, with a 14-day free trial that includes full functionality. No credit card required.
Four Views for Different Ways of Thinking
Not everyone thinks about work the same way. DMSI Planner gives you four views of the same data, so you can switch to whatever fits the moment:
- Gantt Chart — A horizontal timeline with bars, date ranges, and dependency arrows. Configurable columns. Zoom from days to months. This is where you plan.
- Kanban Board — Cards in status columns with drag-and-drop. Move a card from “In Progress” to “Completed” and the status updates everywhere. This is where you execute.
- Dashboard — Status summary cards: how many items are in progress, blocked, due soon. This is where you check in.
- Activity Logger — A chronological record of every change, searchable and filterable. Export to CSV. Ask the AI to summarize what happened last week. This is where you review.
All four views share the same filters and data. Change something in one view, and the others reflect it immediately.
A Hierarchy That Matches How Work Actually Works
Most project tools give you projects and tasks. That’s fine until you’re managing multiple products, each with their own projects, each with their own task lists.
DMSI Planner organizes work in four levels:
- Product Groups — Top-level containers. Separate client work from internal projects, or business units from personal tasks.
- Products — Individual products, services, or initiatives within a group.
- Projects — Time-bounded efforts under a product. A release cycle, a campaign, a sprint.
- Tasks — The actual work items, each with status, priority, dates, categories, and tags.
The hierarchy lives in a collapsible sidebar tree. Expand what you’re working on, collapse what you’re not. It scales from three tasks to three thousand without getting in the way.
An AI Assistant That Actually Knows Your Projects
This is the feature that changes how you work with your data.
DMSI Planner includes a built-in AI assistant that reads your project database directly. Not a chatbot that guesses based on a prompt — an assistant with full SQL access to your actual projects, tasks, statuses, categories, tags, and activity history.
Ask it questions in plain language:
- “How many tasks are in progress right now?”
- “What did I work on last week?”
- “Which projects have blocked tasks?”
- “Summarize activity for Product X over the last month.”
The AI queries your database and returns real answers based on real data.
The recommended setup uses Claude Code as a local CLI — no API key needed if you have a Claude Pro or Max plan. You can also connect Anthropic’s API directly, or use OpenAI, Google Gemini, or a local Ollama instance. The AI is read-only by design: it can query your data but never modify it.
Dependencies, Categories, Tags, and Saved Views
The features you’d expect from a serious project management tool are all here:
- Finish-to-start dependencies with visual arrows on the Gantt chart. Cross-project dependencies work too — a task in one product can depend on a task in a completely different product.
- Categories and tags for flexible organization. Create custom categories with colors, tag items with keywords, and filter across any combination.
- Saved views — Save a filter setup as a named view and switch between views with one click. Build views for “My active tasks,” “Blocked items,” “Client A this month” — whatever fits your workflow.
- Blocked status detection — Items with unfinished dependencies are flagged automatically.
Built for the Desktop
DMSI Planner is a desktop application, and that’s a deliberate choice. Your data lives in a local SQLite database. There’s no cloud sync, no account creation, no telemetry. The app works offline for everything except the AI assistant and update checks.
Additional infrastructure:
- MCP Server — A built-in Model Context Protocol server lets external AI tools query your project data. If you’re building AI workflows, your planner data is accessible.
- Claudius Corp Sync — Optional bidirectional sync with Claudius Corp III, our AI-powered virtual company platform. Use DMSI Planner as your personal planning view alongside your AI team.
- Backup and restore — One-click database backup. Restore from any snapshot. Export activity logs to CSV.
- Desktop notifications — Native Windows notifications with configurable text-to-speech voice alerts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does DMSI Planner work on macOS or Linux?
DMSI Planner is currently Windows-only (Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit).
Is my data stored in the cloud?
No. All data is stored locally in a SQLite database on your machine. There is no cloud component.
What happens when my subscription expires?
The app switches to read-only mode. All your data is preserved — you can still view everything. Purchase a new license to restore full access.
Do I need to pay for AI usage separately?
The AI assistant uses your own AI provider account. With Claude Code (recommended), there’s no extra cost if you have a Claude Pro or Max plan. API-based providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini) use your own API key and billing. Ollama runs locally for free.
Can I use DMSI Planner without the AI assistant?
Yes. The AI assistant is optional. The core project management features — views, hierarchy, dependencies, categories, filters — work independently.
