License Type Info Box #
(New in v1.2.0)
When you select a License Type on the WooCommerce product edit page, an info box appears immediately below the License Type dropdown. This box shows the permissions and defaults configured for the selected type.
What the Info Box Shows #
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Activation Limit | The default number of activations for this type (0 = unlimited) |
| Duration | The default license duration for this type |
| Allows Updates | Whether software update downloads are permitted under this type |
| Allows Premium Content | Whether access to premium-only content is permitted |
| Allows API Access | Whether API access is permitted for licenses of this type |
Purpose #
The info box is a read-only reference. It helps you:
- Confirm you have selected the correct License Type for the product
- Understand what defaults new licenses will receive from the type
- Decide whether you need to override Activation Limit or Duration at the product level
The Info Box Does Not Control the Product #
The permissions shown (Allows Updates, Allows Premium Content, Allows API Access) are properties of the License Type itself. They are recorded on the license when a purchase is made. Viewing the info box does not modify any product setting.
To Change What the Info Box Shows #
The info box reflects the current state of the selected License Type. To change those values:
After saving, the info box on any product using that type will reflect the updated values.
Overriding Type Defaults on the Product #
You can override the type’s Activation Limit and Duration directly on the product (in the License Settings section below the info box). When you do, the override applies to new licenses from this product; the info box continues to show the type’s defaults for reference.
The info box does not show whether an override is in effect. Check the Activation Limit and License Duration fields below the info box to see whether product-level values have been entered.
