Creating a New Version #
Step-by-Step #
1. Select Product #
Choose the DDLS product this version belongs to from the Product dropdown.
2. Version Number #
Enter the version number string (e.g., “2.1.0”). Follow semantic versioning conventions.
3. Variation (New in v2.0.0) #
Dropdown: Select a product variation, or leave blank for “All Variations.”
If your product is a variable product, you can link this version to a specific variation. Only customers who purchased that variation will see this version in their Portal downloads.
When to use: Use variation linking when you ship different builds for different tiers. For example, a “Basic” variation gets a limited-feature build, while a “Pro” variation gets the full build.
When to leave blank: Leave blank if all customers of the product should receive this version regardless of which variation they purchased.
4. Type #
Select the release type:
- Major — Significant new features or breaking changes
- Minor — New features, backwards compatible
- Patch — Bug fixes
- Beta — Pre-release for testing
5. Release Notes #
Enter changelog or release notes for this version. Customers can see these in the Portal.
6. Release Date #
Set the release date. Defaults to today.
7. Attach Files #
You can attach files to the version in two ways:
Inline Upload (New in v2.0.0): Click the upload area to select a file directly from your computer. The file is uploaded to the WordPress Media Library and attached to the version in one step.
Media Library: Click “Select from Media Library” to choose an existing file from your WordPress media.
Each file can have:
- Platform — Select from admin-configurable platform values (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux). Platform options are managed in DDLS > Settings > Platforms (NEW v2.0.0).
- File Description — Optional description shown to customers
You can attach multiple files to a single version (e.g., one per platform).
