Revenue Forecasting #
DMSI Analytics generates forward-looking revenue forecasts based on your historical MRR data and trend models.
Accessing Forecasts #
On the Revenue Analytics page, scroll to the Revenue Forecast section. You can also see forecasts in the Predictive Analytics section.
Forecast Horizons #
| Horizon | Description |
|---|---|
| 1 Month | Short-term, high confidence |
| 3 Months | Near-term, good confidence |
| 6 Months | Medium-term, moderate confidence |
| 12 Months | Long-term, directional guidance |
Forecast Models #
You can choose the forecast model in Analytics Settings > Predictive:
| Model | Best For | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Linear | Steady growth businesses | Fits a straight trend line through historical MRR |
| Seasonal | Businesses with seasonal patterns | Accounts for recurring seasonal peaks/troughs |
| Moving Average | Volatile/early-stage businesses | Smooths out recent fluctuations |
Confidence Intervals #
Each forecast shows a range (lower bound to upper bound) in addition to the point estimate. A wider range means less certainty.
What Forecasts Cannot Account For #
Revenue forecasts are based on historical patterns. They do not account for:
– Planned pricing changes
– New product launches
– Major customer acquisitions or losses
– Market disruptions
Use forecasts as a baseline, not a guarantee.
