Staff members are existing WordPress users on your site who you want to give DDLS access.
Admin-Side Feature
This adds a person to your internal staff team. It does not affect customer team licenses.
Before You Start #
The person you are adding must already have a WordPress user account on your site. If they do not, create one first via Users > Add New in WordPress.
Steps #
- (‘ol’, ‘Go to DMSI DDLS > Team > Team Members.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Add Team Member.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘In the User field, search for the person by name or username.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Select their name from the dropdown.’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Select the Role to assign them (see Understanding Staff Roles for role descriptions).’)
- (‘ol’, ‘Click Save.’)
What Happens Next #
- The staff member appears in the Team Members list with status Active.
- A welcome email is sent to their WordPress account email address informing them of their team access.
- On their next login to the WordPress admin, they will see the DDLS admin menu with the sections permitted by their role.
Can a Staff Member Have Multiple Roles? #
No. Each staff member has exactly one role at a time. To change their role, edit their record and select a different role.
Adding Someone Who Is Already on the Team #
The system prevents adding the same WordPress user twice. If you try to add a user who is already a team member (even if suspended), you will see a validation error. Edit their existing record instead.
